Proposal

I want to get the word out about cancer. Everyone knows about it, and sadly, everyone will be affected by it. People will be affect either with family, friends, they will know some one who has been affected by it, or they will have it. Cancer is a horrible disease that needs to be stopped. It has taken too many wonderful lives and something must be done.
Some goals that I would like to achieve would be:
1. Getting the word out
2. Lobbying our government
3. Getting involved with College against Cancer

  1. While many readers would understand what you meant when stating “everyone,” this is still a little over generalized. Besides that, this is a pretty good proposal summary. It is true that most everyone knows about cancer and either knows someone that has it or has had a family member with it. I would love a little more explanation on how lobbying our government would help. Cancer, like death, is a business. Medicine, funeral homes, etc. all benefit our economy. I also don’t really see what the government can do about genetic anomalies or workplace exposure. Other than that, the CAC sounds like a great idea.

  2. Your proposal is short but to the point. I don't feel like you left anything out and it sounds like a good idea. What kindof public literacy are you going to have? Maybe a handout about CAC and pictures always make a good point. I like your idea.

  3. I think this is a great idea because I have lost two family members to cancer but how do you plan on preventing it? You could pass out prevention pamphlets on things you see every day that cause cancer such as smoking and chewing tobacco. I think pictures are good because it actually shows what is going on inside your body or what is going to happen if this action is not stopped.

  4. I am ust writing back about the response you gave about my propasal. I used a flyer, a FAQ sheet, and I printed a copy of the pre-enrollment application to become a Big. I was going to use some pictures of my Little and I, but the process to become a Big is a very long one and I am still waiting to be matched up. In the beginning, I did not know it was such a long process.

  5. I really appreciate you getting back to me. I really like your ideas. I just hate that I took them at face value in your proposal. I totally understand how important your mission is; my uncle was recently diagnosed with small cell lung cancer. It's been devastating to his body and his emotional health.
As for my project, I plan on utilizing Delaware Elementary School as a sort of home base. We plan on using their families as a test run. Seek out kids that are at risk and then set up a relationship with them in order to cater to their needs (how many people are in the family, where they are "residing," etc.) We're hoping that this is a sound beginning seeing as how OSD was just created.
