When I went to find a blog to analyze I didn't find anything that I found interesting at first, but I kept looking and found a blog all about looking trendy while being a college student. I actually found two, because the blog site that I first went to had a guest blog from another site for college students wanting to keep their appearances up while on a very limited budget. the first blog I went to was College fashion: Fashion blog for fashion tips, by Briana (an alias) who is from an university from New England, who loves fashion, but doesn't' have the means to pay for it. The guest blog is from Charade: A fabulous lifestyle on a student budget. The author is Megan and she is a creative writing student from England.
Both sites let you know that the girls writing the blogs are both college students and tell a little bit about themselves. College Fashion informs you that Briana is an alias and that she lives in New England, who her favorite designers are, what stores she likes (both expensive and inexpensive), and how to reach her. Charade gives the exact information, but goes a little bit further and baits the reader to come back to check for updates. It gives a little background on her and her love of money and fashion, but lack of money, and then goes on to tell the reader to stick around and she'll teach them a few tricks.
College Fashion is designed very simple but has a lot of pink color everywhere. It shows pictures of shoes, clothes, and other girly items. Charade looks like it was a bit more difficult to design. It's very cute and sophisticated, and very, very girly. Between the two I prefer Charade over College Fashion, because Charade's look and feel is more attractive.
I believe that both sites present the subject matter very well. Fro example, College Fashion has a blog that talks about dressing for the winter. In it she talks about the many different looks that are trendy and warm. She also includes pictures for examples as well. Briana also talks about other stuff besides clothes. She gives her opinion on what are the best fashion books, writes about the latest celebrity trend and if the reader would wear it, and she also gives her readers coupons to different stores. Charade has a lot of the same information again, but Megan presents it in a different way. I feel I'm reading Vogue or something when I read Charade. When she gives tips, she also includes pictures of the clothing. In one blog she had readers send in pictures of themselves that include their style. In the blog she showed the picture of the reader and then went on to show how she would do that style. I felt like I was reading a magazine, which was very nifty. She also had a blog that helped a student budget their money so they could possible go out and buy clothing every couple of months or so.
Both blogs are trying to communicate that just because your a poor, broke, suffering college student, doesn't mean that your wardrobe has to suffer. Between Charade and College Fashion, I like Charade more. I think that Charade provides more insight, tips and tricks, and more of the style that is attractive. I still think that College Fashion does a great job too. She has a lot of great tips, plus she has coupons to some really great stores.
